Before venturing into server side code, I was primarily a web designer and developer. The past couple of weeks I have had to deal with a few sites that look great on the exterior, but when going to make a simple change I view the source only to find out that the HTML is nothing less of a catastrophic disaster. I would think that by using tools such as Dreamweaver, having a DOCTYPE declared in the site would be automatic these days. The one question I have is, “Why doesn’t Windows make it mandatory to update your browser with a Windows Update?” I will admit I am a Mac enthusiast and one of the many things Apple does right is their software update. Throughout the past few months I have come across a few clients that are still using the browser I can only describe as pure crap. So instead of testing these sites in Internet Explorer 7/8, Firefox, and Safari, it’s also still a requirement to test in IE 6 if I choose to use a graphic format such as PNG. Of course I could go with the format that is supported – GIF, but let’s be honest: It’s just as crappy as the browser itself.
